Attracting Your Perfect Hypnosis Client

Are you a profesional hypnotist trying to figure out how to bring more clients into your office?

Intuition says the way to make more money in the field is simply to see more clients. But that’s not necessarily the case. Attracting the best possible clients will likely improve your income and grow your business a lot more.

In this blog post, we’ll discuss:

  • What kind of client you’d like to serve and how to attract them.
  • How the way you present yourself affects your potential clients’ interest.
  • How to set up an office that communicates comfort and safety.
  • How to learn hypnosis techniques to be able to help any client anywhere.

The Perfect Hypnosis Client - Figuring Out Your Niche

A lot of hypnotists work as general practitioners. They’ll take almost any client and work with whatever is presented to them. But most of us choose to focus on a specific niche.

Our good friend Ken Guzzo, for example, has made a name for himself as an expert on smoking cessation. Others, such as Lori Hammond, specialize in areas like weight management, physical wellness and crushing that imposter monster. And these are only some common specialties. There is an almost endless number of client niches in high demand you may choose for your career.

It doesn’t matter, however, which niche you happen to choose. What’s really important is how much rapport you’re able to develop with your potential clients.

Put Yourself in Your Client’s Mindset

That’s the easiest way to figure out how you should present yourself and what your business should look like.

Let’s say, for instance, that you chose to focus on helping entrepreneurs and business people. If you really want this kind of client to be willing to pay you for hypnosis sessions, be aware they’ll likely only be attracted by a certain demeanor and appearance. In other words, they’ll expect you to look and behave similar to them.

That’s basically how rapport works.

In the hypnosis field, it’s crucial to have your client’s trust. And we tend to like and trust people who we can relate with. So present yourself as the kind of person your client would feel comfortable being around.

Generally speaking, CEOs and other business people would rather see hypnotists who have a professional look, just like them. That’s how you’ll make them feel comfortable and trust you. So wear fine clothes, speak professionally and give your office a matching professional appearance.

More often than not, that will be enough to make them stick around.

If you want to attract clients who are looking for a more mystical and esoteric experience instead, then that’s what you should give them. A formal-looking office may even be fine for that kind of person, but they’ll surely feel much more comfortable once you meet their expectations.

So decorate your office to give it that mysterious vibe your clients will resonate with. Adjust the lighting to make it more dim, put on some new-agey music and burn some incense, too. That way, your results will improve because all of this adds to each client’s expectation of what the hypnosis experience will be like.

Furthermore, pay close attention to your usual clients’ behavior. What kind of clothes do they wear? Are there any specific words they often use?

Dress like them. Speak in their language. Use pacing and leading, and every tool available to build profound and genuine rapport with your client base.

Clients that like you will probably come back for more sessions and will refer you to their friends. On top of that, because rapport is probably the most important factor in changework and therapy, your results with them will definitely improve. That means you’ll get to charge more money for each session.

As you can see, an extremely large number of clients isn’t necessarily the way to a successful and thriving business. Perhaps a better option is having just a few of the right ones.

The Office Setup - Feeling Safe and Secure

Beyond creating rapport and meeting your clients’ expectations, consider what kind of problems you’re helping them with.

If you’re working with fears, phobias and situations that cause a lot of stress, don’t have an office that might trigger the very issue your client wants to get rid of. Even if you’re just helping people with sports performance or other less complicated things, it won’t help to have them feel threatened by your workplace.

Build a safe environment - with comfortable seats and soothing colors - that looks as far away from threatening as possible, without creepy pictures on the walls or any other weird stuff. Your office must reflect the well-being and security your clients are looking for.
