How Much Should A Hypotherapist Charge

If you're considering hypnotherapy for a problem or you're a hypnotherapist wondering how much to charge, read until this article end or watch the accompanying video.

It's going to be short, sweet, and to the point.

We'll cover:

  • The hystory of hypnotherapy and why it draws a lot of people's interest.
  • Average hypnotherapy session prices and how they're determined.
  • The real meaning of value.
  • How to become an awesome hypnotherapist with the Mike Mandel Hypnosis Academy.

Hypnosis and hypnotherapy is an industry that is starting to see a resurgence unlike any that we’ve witnessed since the 1800’s.

It was during the 1800’s where we saw great names like James Braid, Jean-Martin Charcot, Hippolyte Bernheim, Ivan P. Pavlov, Sigmund Freud, Emile Coué, and Pierre Janet. Each of these individuals helped pioneer much of what we know about hypnosis and coined many of the terms we still use today.

During the 1900’s hypnosis and hypnotherapy started seeing an increase in the scientific research and studies that were being done with a record number of powerful and positive results.

These studies were recorded by modern pioneers like Clark Hull, George Estabrooks, and Milton H. Erickson. These guys were hypnotic rockstars of the 1900’s and paved the way for modern-day hypnotherapy.

Many of the modern hypnotists and hypnotherapists you’ve probably heard of like Mike Mandel, Chris Thompson, and Freddy Jacquin, have learned much of what they know because of the hard work and dedication that their predecessors put in.

Because of the amount of knowledge and wisdom that has traveled through the years, much of the guesswork has been removed from many hypnotherapists' study.

Instead of reading book after book, questioning if the content is valuable or not, you can just as easily look up specific protocols and techniques on Youtube or do a quick Google search and find tons of answers that can give you a solution.

If you want to learn hypnosis in depth, you can take an online course and discover all of the techniques and principles in easy to digest videos.

We’ve really come quite far with our accessibility and means of learning new information!

Hypnotherapy - The Final Frontier

Because of how incredible the results are, people often come to see hypnotherapists and hypnotists as a last resort.

Often, someone will come to see you as a hypnotherapist because they have been to doctors, therapists, and other medical professionals for their issues with absolutely no solution.

Some of the problems most people will come to see a hypnotherapist for include: curing phobias, overcoming irrational fears, stopping pain, ending an addiction, getting better sleep, and much more.

The expectation is that the hypnotherapist will help them with their ailment quickly and without the need for medications or years of sessions.

In other words, what a hypnotherapist does is rather unique. It’s also one heck of an experience!

The skill set required to confidently perform the hypnosis sessions properly so the client gets the results they want also takes a ton of practice and a deep understanding of what’s going on within the client’s unconscious mind.

When a client comes to see a hypnotherapist, they’ve probably exhausted all of their typical options and finally want something that works. To put it lightly, they are sick and tired of suffering.

Putting Money Where Your Mouth Is

We interviewed several hypnotherapists who range from helping people end their substance addictions, removing phobias and fears, and helping alleviate pain. Each of them gave their own price structure and how they performed their work.

The findings of the interviews below show the low end and high end:

  • Per session prices ranged from $100 a session all the way up to $1997 per session!
  • Packages of sessions ranged from $350 for 2 sessions up to $5000 for 6 sessions!
  • Some people charged by the hour ranging from $100 an hour up to $500 an hour!

While these numbers seem rather distant to each other, there were a few things that each person said which echoed across the entire interview process:

  1. Almost all new hypnotherapists charged at the lower range because they didn’t feel confident enough to provide an effective solution at a reasonable amount of time.
  2. Almost all experienced hypnotherapists who charged at the higher end started off charging about the same prices as a new hypnotherapist when they were new.
  3. Every single one of them said they planned on raising their prices or were in the process of already raising their prices.

So what does this mean for the consumer?

It boils down to getting what you pay for.

The experienced hypnotherapists charged more because they have a personal track record of providing a fast solution with pretty reliable and predictable results.

The newer hypnotherapists are still getting their feet wet and are less confident in being able to give their clients the solution or experience that was expected.

If you are reading this and are a consumer wanting to know how much you can expect to pay, it depends on how serious you are about wanting to solve your problem.

If you are wanting to just “try” out hypnosis and don’t really want to have your issue resolved, then it might be worthwhile to seek out an inexperienced hypnotherapist who charges less than an experienced one.

However, if you really do want to finally be free from whatever it is you are suffering from then paying an experienced hypnotherapist the price they quote you means you are getting someone who has reliable and predictable results and is confident in what they do.

The Truth About Value - The Graphic Designer Story

There is a story about a young woman who was being interviewed for the opportunity to provide a very wealthy and successful company with a brand new logo design. The logo was meant to best represent the company in a sleek and modern way.

The woman being interviewed was one of the best graphic designers and artists in her field, so the company knew the caliber of prestige they were working with. During the interview, the young woman stated that the price she wanted to help them with their design was $100,000.

“I’ll give you the most effective solution in the most efficient use of your time,” the young woman claimed.

The company executives all agreed that this would be a fair amount for the quality of work they would expect for someone of her expertise and so after signing the contract and shaking hands, the young woman got right to work.

She reached across the table they were all sitting at during the interview, grabbed a napkin that was close, reached into her purse, pulled out a pen, and started sketching.

Within just a few minutes, the woman smiled and said she was finished, handing the napkin over to her interviewers. The executives were absolutely stunned when they realized that the design she had quickly created is exactly what they wanted, down to the letter.

“This is exactly what we wanted! It’s perfect!” they exclaimed. “You really are an expert in your field!”

Smiling from ear to ear, the young woman said, “I appreciate the compliment! You can write me a check for the work right now or I can give you my direct deposit information and I’ll expect to have payment by the end of the day.”

The executives sat confused for a moment and then one of them spoke up saying, “You were able to provide us the solution we wanted but it only took a few moments!”

Another executive chimed in, “We’ve seen countless other graphic designs and artists who have taken weeks and months to produce content and it wasn’t at all what we wanted. We’ve already spent countless hours and thousands of dollars...”Yet another executive said, “You also only spent only a few minutes coming up with a design. It didn’t look like hard work at all.”

One last executive spoke up, “Doesn’t that seem a little ridiculous to think you deserve your full wage?”

Knowing her value and worth, the young woman smiled and with a rather confident tone in her voice said:

“You hired me to provide you with a fast solution to your problem. You’ve seen countless other people who said they could help you with your problem and were unable to. I did what they could not...”

She continued, “..you are right in that it only took me a few moments of time to give you the answer you were looking for, but you are not paying me for the minutes it took me to give you the solution. You are paying me for the years it took me to learn how to give you what you wanted in only a few minutes. I know my value and I trust you now know it as well.”

She had a check in her hand shortly afterwards for the amount she requested and the company referred several other clients to her throughout the years.
