  • How to use glove anaesthesia to reduce pain in any part of the body.

Hypnosis has been used for centuries as a therapeutic tool for managing pain and reducing suffering.

Its popularity has been overshadowed in the eyes of the general public who generally think of the use of hypnosis in smoking cessation, or perhaps stage shows. But in recent years, hypnosis has been gaining recognition for its effectiveness in pain management.

Hypnotic trance has the power to reduce the release of bradykinins in burn victims, which are an enzyme responsible for intensifying the damage caused. This means that hypnosis can not only reduce pain, but also help reduce inflammation and swelling. Click here to watch a video explanation of how it works.

There are several ways in which hypnosis can be used to achieve the goal of pain reduction, including direct suggestion, reframing the pain as pressure or “that sensation”, using hypnosis to distract from pain or dissociate from it, and even setting up an imaginary control panel to adjust suffering from felt pain.

It should be added that hypnotic trance is in and of itself, a pain reducer, as the brush endings of the nerves are affected by deep relaxation.

One of the most powerful and innovative hypnotic pain-relief methods is glove anesthesia.

The process involves creating a cataleptic hand, which becomes numb through hypnotic suggestion, compounding and moving the anesthesia to the area where it’s needed. It is a highly effective method of reducing or completely eliminating pain.

The technique is versatile and can be used in a variety of situations to improve the quality of life for individuals experiencing pain.

By utilizing the power of the mind, glove anesthesia offers a natural and non-invasive solution to managing pain and reducing suffering.

What is Glove Anesthesia in Hypnosis?

Glove anesthesia is a technique that involves using hypnotic trance to numb or reduce the sensitivity of a specific part of the body, typically a hand.

The process of glove anesthesia consists of a hypnotist guiding the patient into a state of deep relaxation and then providing suggestions for one hand becoming numb, or insensitive to pain. The numbness feels much like a glove covering the surface skin of the hand, hence the name.

This technique has been shown to be highly effective in reducing pain associated with a variety of medical procedures, including dental work, childbirth, and even cancer treatments.

There are many benefits to using this drug-free technique, including reduced anxiety and stress, and improved patient comfort and satisfaction.

How is Glove Anesthesia Used for Pain Relief?

Watch the video demonstration below to see Mike performing glove anaesthesia on a student during a live class in Toronto, or read the rest of this article.

The first step in creating glove anesthesia is to induce a state of catalepsy in a hand. This is achieved through hypnotic trance and direct suggestion, which results in the hand becoming floating and essentially weightless.

The next step is to create numbness in the hand, which is typically done through guided imagery. The subject might be asked to imagine their hand being placed in a bucket of ice water or plunged into a snow drift, and this image is used to intensify the numbness in the hand.

The hypnotist will aim for anesthesia, which is zero sensation, but will be satisfied with analgesia, which is zero pain.

At the end of the procedure, the hypnotist may give direct suggestions for the maintenance of pain relief, as well as anti-inflammatory suggestions. The numbness will be suggested to fade on its own when it is no longer needed, or the subject may be given a time frame for how long the numbness will last.

Amplification by Compounding

The process of compounding helps to increase the effectiveness of glove anesthesia.

This requires a certain degree of numbness to be present, as compounding zero numbness will still result in zero numbness. However, even a small amount of numbness can be easily compounded.

The subject is instructed to imagine moving the numb feeling from hand to hand, to foot to foot, and back, doubling the numb feeling with each move. Ideomotor signals can be established so the subject nods each time the numbness moves.

When the patient’s unconscious mind knows that the numbness is sufficient for the desired purpose, the subject can nod again or give some other signal.

Moving the Anaesthesia

The glove anesthesia technique works particularly well for dental procedures by applying the numb hand to the face or jaw. The subject might imagine a cooling colour flowing, as the numbness transfers over to the area where it’s most needed.

Interestingly, this works for emotional as well as physical pain. It can also be applied to distant and otherwise unreachable areas, such as between the shoulder blades, by flowing to the site of the pain, through the body, from the cataleptic hand.

Ending the Procedure

Direct suggestions can be given for maintaining pain relief and reducing inflammation. When the numbness is no longer needed, it can fade on its own. Alternatively, a time frame can be established as to how long the numbness will last.

The subject may also be taught self-hypnosis to enhance the therapy, or to do the entire procedure with no hypnotist required.
