Yes, there is one key secret to quickly mastering hypnosis. If you wish to know what it is, watch the video below or read the rest of this blog post.
Some time ago, Mike Mandel was teaching his friend Paul to play chess. Because he was playing against a beginner, Mike naturally won all of their matches with simple moves. Despite that, Paul really loved the game and decided, in order to get better at it, he needed to read more about it. But there was a problem.
Instead of continuing to play chess as he read about the game, he chose to not touch another chess piece until he had read what he thought were enough books. Guess what happened? Paul kept losing to Mike because he continued to play very poorly.
Paul’s strategy failed because trying to get good at chess without actually playing it, is like trying to learn how to swim without getting in the water. No amount of reading will teach you how to do these things, if you never PRACTICE what you’ve been learning.
That’s the secret.
Just like playing chess is the secret to getting good at chess, practicing hypnosis is the ultimate secret to getting good at hypnosis. Practice is what turns your knowledge into SKILL.
Not practicing is also a common mistake many people make when learning a new language. As any good language teacher will tell you: to learn a new language, you need to listen to it and speak it. Just reading about it and watching other people talking in that language won’t do. Likewise, to get great at hypnosis, you have to hypnotize people!
Learn the Basics, Then Go Do It!
Once you have the hypnosis basics under your belt, which you can learn through books, Youtube videos or the Mike Mandel Hypnosis Academy, you’re ready to go out there and start practicing what you’ve learned.
Believe us when we say the basics of hypnosis are really simple. It takes very little effort to learn basic rapport skills, language patterns, and hypnotic inductions. Wherever you are, you really don’t need to know 50 more inductions or 30 more deepeners to have the basics mastered. As we always say, learning hypnosis is about mastering principles, not an infinity of techniques.
It may be that you believe you need a few more techniques before you’re ready to practice. Maybe you think that if you learn just a couple more inductions or one more deepener, then you’ll feel ready to practice. Scratch that. Learn basic principles and go practice whatever techniques you have.
Forget Scripts! Learn Principles
Learning principles implies you don’t need to rely on scripts or rigid protocols to do hypnosis. We’ve talked a lot about why you shouldn’t use hypnosis scripts on other occasions. To sum it all up, they’re a crutch you’re better off without. You can use them as training wheels, but never as your main course of action.
Great hypnotists master the fundamental principles of hypnosis and enjoy having flexibility in how they go about hypnotizing people. That’s why at the Mike Mandel Hypnosis Academy, we specialize in teaching the fundamental core principles of hypnosis, from beginner to advanced.
